If i take over the management of a department, region or company, the actions of the previous leadership will still have an affect on the current state of affairs. If I make a lot of promises, don't keep them and blame pretty much everything that's wrong on the previous leadership I've proven at least that I'm not a leader.

while I agree that taxing energy further is a bad idea, it's also perhaps one of the few ways to pay for the clean up.

You are incorrect. This drilling site was approved in 2008. (Bush) The Bush admin also removed many regulations that would require BP to file a disaster prep plan in case of something like this.

I do not see how previous administrations can be blamed for what happened on on the current administration's watch. Deep-water Horizon was authorized and encouraged by the current people. Adding taxes to energy is a poor idea. Energy consumption is down 10% from this time two years ago to a year ago, and 11% form this time a year ago to today.

but then every administration inherits what the previous administrations start...that's just an excuse for more failure and something that the current administration has proven very adept.

We don't need any other jobs. We'll just extend the unemployment benefits so that people never have to go back to work.

Reforms in offshore drilling need to be made, but we do not need added items that have nothing to do with what happened. Keep the extra junk out of it

This is getting damn ridiculous. I by no means condone the actions of BP or the government, but the political mess that can ensue from this could be worse than the spill itself.

'make offshore drilling the safest in the world' Just what does that mean? This is a part of the world and big oil tells us it's safe. QUALITY CONTROL, not money, money, money . What's the use anyway, 2 more spills going on now.

Both parties are guilty of adding unrelated items to bills to get their pet perks passed when they could not stand on their own. The current Senate, House, and White House have no brakes on spending. They are hell bent on bankrupting this country.

Yes, the Democrats are enjoying this event way more than necessary. As you might imagine, so are the Republicans. The last thing a politician of either stripe wants is an day without a news event.
